The Procurement & Inventory Coordinator reports directly to the Operations Manager-Ontario.

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Operations Manager-Ontario, the Procurement & Inventory Coordinator is primarily responsible for sourcing goods and maintaining the integrity of the inventory in the system. The role is also responsible for evaluating vendor performance, including carriers and service providers. This person will be responsible for scheduling and overseeing all inventory counts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare purchase orders for all inventory items and services required by the business;
• Work with Accounts Payables to ensure all PO’s are received correctly with matching invoices;
• Ensure inventory levels are optimal for positive customer experiences balanced with total inventory value;
• Develop vendor assessment tools and regularly report on performance of vendors;
• Liaise with Finance to ensure purchase costs are correct;
• Manage third party vendor relationships and monitor company inventory at those vendors;
• Develop and implement back order tracking processes and communication plans to internal stakeholders;
• Develop relationships with suppliers to resolve delivery and quality concerns;
• Create schedules and processes for inventory cycle and annual counts and manage those counts;
• Liaise with Finance, Operations and Customer Care to investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies;
• Plan and monitor interbranch and intercompany transfers;
• Analyze inventory movement patterns and recommend stocking levels;
• Develop and implement processes to manage Old and Slow inventory;
• Develop a system to track SKU’s with limited shelf life and ensure stock rotation practices are followed;
• Ensure vendor database is current and complete;
• Work with Operations to ensure work orders are prepared for production;
• Liaise with IT regarding enhancements to purchasing and inventory management tools;
• Other duties as assigned.

COMPETENCIES & QUALIFICATIONS:

Technical skills:
• Advanced skills with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel and Word);
• Analytical and problem solving skills;
• Working experience with procurement software;
• Strong negotiating skills;
• Fluent in English spoken and written.

Relational skills:
• Excellent communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills;
• Strategic thinker with a good understanding of operations principles;
• Team spirit and understanding of the importance of positive customer experiences;
• Good sense of organization, time management and attention to detail.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Degree in the field of supply chain management, logistics or business administration;
Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years in supply chain, procurement or similar role;
Languages: Essential – Fluent in English spoken and written is mandatory.
